New Septic System

4 Steps to a successful installation.

New Septic System

4 Steps to a successful installation.

1. System Design

Every septic and leach field system will require a design. Inputs for your specific design are your soil classification and percolation classification results from tests conducted by a Colorado Registered Engineer and the house size using bedrooms or occupants. The data and information gathered is evaluated against classification tables from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Water Quality Control Commission On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Regulation. The Soil acceptance rates and soil classification will reveal whether your system can be designed conventionally or must be designed by an engineer.

Conventional System

Should your septic site have acceptable percolation results and bedrock depths, your system would be a candidate for a conventional system designed by TBC.  Our team will construct your system based upon the per person occupancy and design the system based upon that design capacity.  The conventional design is professionally drawn using an AutoCAD software and submitted to your local County for review.

Engineered System

Should your septic site have unacceptable percolation results (too fast or too slow) your system would be a candidate for an “Engineered” system. (There are several types and names for these systems) An Engineered system must be designed by a Colorado Registered Engineer and typically require additional components, planning, and materials. Your County will require approval of the Engineered system, as well as require TBC to submit an As Built design when completed.

2. Obtain Design Approval & Permit

Septic Systems are an important Health and Safety concern.  As such, every County will require design build plans to be submitted and approved before breaking ground. The Health and Safety department of your County also require the installer to be licensed which typically requires passing an exam. TBC handles this process, including applying for, reviewing with design inspector, plan modification, and paying for the permit.

3. Materials

The goal for any system installer is a beautifully designed system with no short term or long term failures. Let’s face it, digging up a septic system due to a failure is can be your worst nightmare.  Often overlooked is the quality of materials, and there is a difference in quality. TBC Septic acknowledges this fact and elects to work will the suppliers who produce the better quality materials and components. Yes, they are a bit more expensive in the short run, but the long run savings, we believe, is a no-brainer.

TBC ownership runs each installation under the principals of Project Management Professionals (PMP). As such: Initiating, Planning Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing are vital. Moreover, Scope, Start Times, End Times, Predecessors and Successors must be properly adhered to for project success. In terms of materials delivery, our clients will never find their project half started and postponed due to material issues. There is little worse than an open hole and no materials and no crew. We don’t start until the materials are on-site. (with the exception of the Septic Tank due to crane placement). It’s inefficient, quality of install falls, and is frustrating to crew and client. We understand this, which is why Materials occupies an important space in our process.

4. Installation and Final Approval

At this point in our process, the plans are drawn and approved, permits are purchased, materials are scoped, ordered, and delivered, it’s now time to execute the installation. It’s at this point were an installer needs a well-trained crew, established procedures, and proper equipment. TBC Septic will be certain to have all 3.  People are the company’s greatest asset and training them to follow established installation and safety procedures is vital to our success. Proper digging equipment and laser level equipment is a must to ensure proper installation.  We will spare you how the sausage is made here, but be assured we are pros.

The County and Engineers will inspect our work to ensure a proper design build.  After they approve back-fill, they require an as built design plan to certify to system complete.  Our process handles this.
